The 2021 Outlander is equipped with either a 2.0-litre engine producing 148 horsepower, or a 2.4-litre engine that puts out 168 horsepower. All-wheel drive is standard, and uses a continuously variable transmission (CVT). In terms of fuel economy, the 2.0-liter engine gets 10 km/L in the city, 13 km/L on the highway, and around 11 km/L combined. If selecting the all-wheel drive option, the fuel economy is almost the same, getting 10 km/L in the city, 12 km/L on the highway, and 11 km/L combined.
Drive, Warranty, and Price Point
An auto career pro may notice the drive is on the stiffer side, while the steering and brakes offer good overall responsiveness. The somewhat noisy base 2.0-liter engine lacks some power, and the CVT can sometimes make for a less than smooth acceleration. With some of these flaws in mind, the 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander remains satisfactory for its price point, with a base model sitting at around $31,000 CAD. The 2021 Mitsubishi also boasts an excellent warranty—guaranteed for 10 years or 161,000 km, taking care of many cost-related concerns for buyers.
Standard and Additional Features
The Outlander’s base model is equipped with features such as LED headlight and taillights, cruise control, automatic climate control, audio controls built into the steering wheel, cloth upholstery, a 7-inch touchscreen, and an audio system with 4 built-in speakers equipped with Bluetooth, radio, and a USB port. LED fog lights, rain-sensing windscreen wipers, and an auto-dim rear-view mirror are additional stand-out features noted by industry reviewers.
A Convenience Options package comes with some features that take the Outlander up to par with some of its competitors, including heated front seats, Apple/CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration, and an 8-inch infotainment display.

The 2021 Outlander offers a variety of advanced safety features likely to impress students of automotive training schools, including anti-lock brakes, hill-start assist, and a stability control function that applies the vehicle’s brakes if grip loss is detected.
