If You're in Auto Repair Training, Here's a Look at the Most Fuel-Efficient Gas-Powered Vehicles

If You’re in Auto Repair Training, Here’s a Look at the Most Fuel-Efficient Gas-Powered Vehicles

Auto Repair Training
While the gas-guzzling Ford F-Series might hold the spot for best-selling vehicle in Canada, it’s no secret that many drivers are still opting for compact, fuel-efficient vehicles. Not only do they save money (and a lot of it), but they’re also practical and effective commuter cars.
Broken down by car type, including sedans and hatchbacks (not including hybrid or plug-in vehicles), drivers and mechanics alike can reference this list to know what gas-powered cars will take them the farthest by the litre.

Those in Mechanics School Will Want to Look for These Fuel-Efficient Sedans

Sedans might be (slowly) going out of style, but they still have a lot to offer when it comes to fuel-efficient models. Here’s a look at the least wasteful sedans of 2020.

With these cars, running out of gas will be a rare occurrence

2020 Mitsubishi Mirage G4
Getting a combined 6.7 L/100km, with 7.1 L/100km in the city and 5.0 L/100km on the highway, the Mirage G4 is a pretty fuel-efficient sedan. However, although its price tag is appealing, starting around $16,000 CAD, the Mirage makes for a pretty noisy, disagreeable ride.
2020 Honda Civic
With a combined 6.5 L/100km (7.4 city/5.6 highway) the Honda Civic is a well-loved, user-friendly model that’s here to stay. A roomier, more comfortable riding option than the Mirage, it’s turbocharged engine definitely packs a punch, making anyone in mechanics school wonder how it saves so much fuel.
2020 Hyundai Accent
The Accent boasts a graceful driving experience, a convenient price tag, and fun technology features such as Apple CarPlay. The Accent gets a combined 7.1 L/100km (8.1 city/6.0 highway).
2020 Toyota Camry
This well-known model saves a lot on fuel, getting 6.9 combined L/100km (28.1 city/5.7 highway). Its starting price might be higher than its competitor sedans, but that’s because the Camry doesn’t sacrifice when it comes to materials or cabin space.

The Most Eco-Friendly Hatchbacks of 2020

If a sedan just isn’t in the cards, among these hatchbacks are more great fuel-efficient options that those with auto repair training should be aware of.

There are some great fuel-efficient hatchback options

2020 Mitsubishi Mirage
Just like with the sedan models, the Mirage tops out among hatchbacks again, with 6.5 L/100km combined (7.1 city/5.7 highway). Again, this may be one of the cheapest fuel-efficient hatchback options, but nothing about it really screams “quality”—especially the underwhelming engine.
2020 Honda Fit LX
This hatchback is a popular option among users, with a nimble drive and a surprising kick to it. The Fit’s engine produces 128 hp and gets a combined 6.5 L/100km (7.1 city/5.9 highway).
2020 Kia Rio
The Kia Rio hatchback is a solid option overall, with 6.5 combined L/100km (7.1 city/5.7 highway). It’s a nice roomy size for a hatchback, and its price tag starts at just $17,105 CAD.
2020 Toyota Corolla Hatchback
Last but certainly not least, the Toyota Corolla Hatchback is a strong option, with an effective four-cylinder, 2.0-liter engine. The Corolla gets 7.6 L/100km combined (8.4 city/6.4 highway).
